Carol has been with Barclays for 7 years and in that time has aided and advised on the creative and media strategy of the major Communication brand campaigns for Barclays UK which have ensured that the Retail brand has maintained its stature and status in a very challenging business environment.

Miguel is building customer segmentation models using data from social networks source. He is involved likewise in research lines related to Natural Language Processing using deep learning approaches.

Dr. Cristián Bravo is Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Business Analytics at Department of Decision Analytics and Risk, University of Southampton. Previously he served as Research Fellow at KU Leuven, Belgium; and as Research Director at the Finance Centre, Universidad de Chile. His research focuses on the development and application of predictive, descriptive and prescriptive analytics to the problem of credit risk in micro, small and medium enterprises. His work covers diverse topics and methodologies, such as semi-supervised techniques, deep learning, text mining, social networks analytics, fraud analytics, and multiple modelling methodologies. His work has been published in well-known international journals, he has edited three special issues in business analytics in reputed scientific journals, and he is the co-author of the book “Profit Driven Business Analytics”, which will be published by Wiley in October 2017. Leonardo De Marchi holds a Master in Artificial intelligence and has worked as a Data Scientist in the sport world, with clients such as New York Knicks and Manchester United, and with large social networks, like Justgiving. He now works as Head of Data Scientist and Analytics in Badoo, the largest dating site with over 420 million users. He is also the lead instructor at ideai.io, a company specialised in Reinforcement Learning, Deep Learning and Machine Learning training. He is also a contractor for several companies and for the European Commission, as an expert in AI and Machine Learning. As an author he is writing a book: “Hands On Machine Learning” that it’s going to be published around June, and an online course for O’Reilly.

Louise has over 10 years’ experience in decision support consulting, the last 8 years of which have been at EY. She has an MSc in Operational Research.

After years working as a software engineer in medical, telecommunication and e-commerce domains; and after obtaining a PhD in Human-Computer Interaction, he put away his engineering hat to manage product development in the Scout24 Data Engineering group.

Computer Science and Applied Mathematics Departments

Alfred received a Ph. D. in Mathematics and Physics from the University of Illinois (Champaign-Urbana) continuing as Research Professor at the Biological Computer Laboratory  working on Neural Networks, Cognition, Population Dynamics and Models of Complex Nonlinear Systems. He then held senior research positions at IBM where he developed a Mathematical Model of the Ear(Cochlea) (TIME Nov. 74) and later Collision-Avoidance Algorithms for Air Traffic Control (3 USA patents). Concurrently he had joint appointments at UCLA, USC, Technion and Ben Gurion University. Since 1995 AI is Professor at the School of Mathematical Sciences of Tel Aviv University. He was elected Senior Fellow at the San Diego Supercomputing Center in 1996. He invented and developed the multidimensional visualization  methodology of Parallel Coordinates for which he received numerous patents and awards.  His textbook on "Parallel Coordinates: VISUAL Multidimensional Geometry", was published by Springer and praised by Stephen Hawking among many others.

Funs combines a solid theoretical background (Master degrees in International Marketing and Marketing Analytics (Cum Laude)) with over 8 years of experience in Analytics in a Marketing environment, working for market-leading brands like McDonald's, E.ON, Ossur and Dorel.
